Our class is finishing up a unit on healthy eating.  As part of the unit, we read a few books about how different healthy foods help the various parts of our body.  Before reading these books, I drew the outline of the human body (very basic, I’m no artist!) on chart paper.  Then, as we read the books, if we learned that a certain food or food group helped a specific body part stay strong, I drew a quick sketch of the food on a Post-It.  The kids took turns placing the Post-Its on the body.  Here’s how it looked after one book:

The kids suggested I draw a glass of water for our figure to drink, based on something we read in the book.  Very simple activity, but the kids enjoyed it and it got them actively involved with the texts.  You could even take off the Post-It notes and have the kids restick them, using it as a center or small group activity.
